Senior Level Process Engineering Professional


COSTELLO, a chemical engineering firm is searching for a Sr. Process Engineer. This Lead Process Engineer will act as the primary group leader to provide process engineering for various projects and will supervise the work of other engineers and draftsmen assigned to these projects. Responsible for all aspects of process engineering. Assignment requires knowledge and application of chemical engineering fundamentals. Sr. Process Engineer will serve as the key liaison with the client and must be a competent communicator.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes and skills:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering

  • 20 + years experience, preferably in engineering plant design with expertise in refining operations

  • Oversees and reviews process simulations, PFDs/P&IDs development, hydraulic & relief calculations and PSV sizing, process equipment and instrument data sheets, review process data for line lists, prepare and review process descriptions and study reports

  • Must have demonstrated ability to interpret results based on sound technical analysis

  • Position requires strong verbal and written communications skills at all levels and ability to coach and mentor others in the organization

  • Must be a team player in a large industrial environment

  • Must have the ability to resolve complex and multi-faceted problems in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to lead a team, learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, train staff, work cooperatively in a team environment, work with cross-functional teams, problem solve and drive solutions to meet internal and external customer requirements

  • Hands-on individual with detailed trouble shooting capabilities

  • Supervise work of other engineers assigned to these projects

International Project Manager

 

COSTELLO, a top South Bay chemical engineering firm, has been awarded a contract to convert Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to electrical power for three landfill sites in South East Asia.  A Project Manager (PM) with experience in international projects is required. 
The PM will provide direction and management for all facets of converting MSW to electricity utilizing pyrolysis technology, directing the development of the front end design through construction and start-up to ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget and in accordance with contractual obligations. PM will plan and define project goals and devise methods to accomplish them; develop in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies.
Specific responsibilities include:

  • Project Management of feasibility study and then conceptual design of systems to produce electrical power

  • Develop a Work Breakdown Structure, identifying the engineering disciplines needed and where they will come from

  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administration functions of the assigned project

  • Hire subcontractors for EIRs in South East Asia

  • Act as the company representative with the client and subcontractors

  • Negotiate changes to the scope

  • Establish the requirements for all areas of the project and reviews draft deliverables or implement the QA/QC program

  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project

  • Negotiate with regulatory agencies and support clients in meetings

  • Execute work in accordance with our firm’s safety policies

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage staff work load and backlog; work well and coordinate with other offices to ensure proper staff is assigned to projects, identify and recruit staff, provide leadership and mentoring to staff; work with individuals to grow / develop, and perform annual reviews

  • Experience managing projects in South East Asia

  • Experience with power generation

  • Has managed projects > $50 MM

  • Must have valid passport

  • Ability to commit for duration of project (approximately 2 years), travel between Los Angeles and South East Asia, and temporarily relocate

Experience with a top engineering firm in Southern California in a similar capacity is a plus.
